More than half of Polish hospitals have experienced data leaks

More than half of Polish hospitals have experienced data leaks, according to a report by Grant Thornton and ResilientX, cited by Rzeczpospolita. The study revealed nearly 700 security vulnerabilities across 50 facilities, with 2,200 hospital-related passwords already circulating online—creating serious risks of cyberattacks. Large hospitals with National Health Fund (NFZ) contracts exceeding PLN 200 million are the most exposed. The consequences can be severe: past cyber incidents in Germany and the UK have even led to patient deaths.
Despite rising spending on cybersecurity, Polish hospitals still lack trained staff and clear procedures. Experts urge more training and faster responses to counter rapidly evolving cyberthreats.
