Nawrocki hopes for Fort Trump revival

President Karol Nawrocki voiced optimism about reviving the “Fort Trump” concept, telling Interia it is too soon for details but stressing the need for a platform for U.S. investment and cooperation in Central Europe.
Nawrocki met with U.S. President Donald Trump in Washington on Wednesday, securing assurances that American troops would remain in Poland. Trump said deployments could even expand if Poland requested. Asked if he expected such clarity, Nawrocki admitted he traveled with the goal of strengthening—not reducing—the U.S. presence, adding, “I succeeded.”
Talks focused on bolstering Poland’s security and NATO’s eastern flank. Nawrocki said discussions at the White House echoed earlier Fort Trump proposals and noted that Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and National Security Bureau chief Sławomir Cenkiewicz would explore details. He emphasized building broader economic and technological ties alongside military cooperation.
