NBP: core inflation increased in May
Poland’s core inflation excluding food and energy rose to 3.1% y/y in May 2026, up from 3% in April, the National Bank of Poland reported. Headline CPI inflation in May also stood at 3.1%.
Other core inflation measures were mixed. Core inflation excluding administered prices fell to 2.8% from 2.9% a month earlier, while inflation excluding the most volatile prices rose to 3.3% from 3%. The 15% trimmed mean, which removes the fastest- and slowest-changing price categories, also increased to 3.3% from 3%.
NBP said core inflation indicators help identify the sources of price growth and forecast future trends. The measure excluding food and energy is closely watched because it better reflects price pressures influenced by monetary policy.
