The Metropolitan Bypass of Tricity (OMT) is a critical infrastructure project for 1.6 million residents of the Pomeranian Metropolis. It will redirect transit traffic away from Gdańsk, Gdynia, and Sopot, alleviating congestion on existing expressways, which currently handle up to 100,000 vehicles daily, including heavy trucks.
The project consists of two main sections:
Chwaszczyno to Żukowo: A 16.3 km segment, 90% complete, set to open in April 2025 (cost: PLN 715 million, built by Budimex).
Żukowo to Gdańsk Południe: A 7 km section, 65% complete, scheduled for September 2025 (cost: PLN 826 million, by Mirbud/Kobylarnia).
Additionally, Widlino rest areas (MOP) will be constructed. The project aims to improve travel efficiency and reduce traffic congestion in the Tricity region.
