Number of apartments commissioned increased by 22.1% y/y in September

In September 2025, 19,063 new housing units were completed in Poland, up 22.1% y/y and 25.8% m/m, according to Statistics Poland (GUS). Of these, 12,042 were built for sale or rent (+16.4% y/y). From January to September 2025, 144,400 units were completed (–0.4% y/y), including 90,300 by developers (+1.1%) and 49,000 by private investors (–4.8%).
The average apartment size reached 88.6 m², with total usable area down 1.8% y/y. Construction starts rose 1.7% y/y in September to 19,563 units, though developer projects declined 1.7% y/y. Overall, 166,000 housing starts were recorded in the first nine months (–8.5% y/y). Building permits reached 23,646 in September (+1.5% y/y), but remained 13.4% lower for the year-to-date.
