Number of foreign students in Poland is growing

International students are increasingly important for both universities and national economies in developed countries. In 2022, the global number of students reached over 250 million, with 6.5 million international students. The largest destinations include the USA, UK, Australia, Germany, and France. The presence of international students boosts local economies through tuition fees, housing, and consumption, contributing 1-2% of GDP in countries like the USA, UK, and Australia. For instance, in the USA, foreign students contributed $40.1 billion to the economy in 2022.
Poland, with over 105,000 foreign students in the 2022/2023 academic year, benefits from their spending, especially from students in management, IT, and medicine. Their presence also aids sectors like business services, enhancing overall economic competitiveness.
