Number of mortgage applications growing for fifth month in a row
The number of mortgage applications in Poland has been rising for the fifth month in a row. According to BIK data, in October 2025 the value of inquiries for housing loans increased by 34.3% y/y, with 42,920 people applying — a 24.5% y/y increase and 7.6% more than in September. The average requested loan amount reached PLN 474,860, which is nearly 8% y/y higher. The rise in demand is linked to falling interest rates and expectations of further cuts announced by the Monetary Policy Council.
Analysts suggest that if the current pace continues and the average loan amount keeps growing, 2025 could record the highest total value of mortgages granted, although fewer working days in late autumn may slightly temper monthly dynamics.
