In 2024, the number of sick leave days due to mental health disorders in Poland rose by 16.2% to 30.3 million, compared to 26.1 million in 2023. Depressive episodes accounted for 5.9 million days, while recurrent depression caused 2.7 million absences. The total number of medical certificates issued for mental health issues increased by 14.1%, reaching 1.6 million.

Experts warn that rising mental health absences impact workplace productivity, increase costs for employers, and strain healthcare and social security systems. Chronic conditions like depression and burnout often lead to longer sick leaves and higher turnover rates. Employers are urged to invest in mental health programs, flexible work options, and well-being initiatives to mitigate workplace stress and maintain productivity.
