Polish scientists are seeking more commercial partners, but many companies remain cautious about the risks of adopting academic innovations. As a result, businesses often buy ready-made systems and equipment, frequently from foreign suppliers, while Polish technologies may find greater use abroad than at home. At the Economic Forum in Karpacz, business leaders said they were open to cooperation with universities, particularly when no proven market solution exists.

However, they pointed to weak trust and coordination between companies, academia, public institutions and state-owned enterprises, especially in deep tech projects. Universities therefore tend to focus on research and patents, while public-sector buyers often prefer tested, lower-risk solutions instead of experimental technologies.
