In the second quarter of 2020, 52 mergers and transactions were carried out in the Polish market. This number is lower by 11 than in the second quarter of 2019, according to the M&A Index Poland report, prepared by Navigator Capital and Fordata.

The authors of the report state that the sector approach of the parties involved has not changed compared to the first quarter.

"The financial sector still bought the most (19 percent), the TMT sector prevailed among the acquired entities (19 percent), while private investors most often sold (59 percent)," the report reads.

According to analyses, it is still not visible that the pandemic has triggered the distressed assets trend to the expected extent. Transaction analyses show that the vast majority of projects are processes implementing long-term strategies and transactions suspended at the time of the introduction of restrictions.
