Orlen to increase gas production by 500 mln m3 from Norwegian Sea

Orlen’s Norwegian subsidiary, together with partners, has completed another development phase of the Ormen Lange gas field. New compressors will boost daily extraction by up to 50%, giving Orlen an additional 500 million cubic meters of gas annually at peak production. Over the lifetime of the field, recoverable resources will increase by 30–50 bcm, with Orlen’s share estimated at 4–7 bcm. This raises the resource recovery factor from 75% to 85%, making Ormen Lange one of the world’s most efficiently exploited gas fields. Discovered in 1997, the field holds around 330 bcm of gas and lies 120 km offshore in the Norwegian Sea.
Orlen holds a 14% stake alongside Equinor, Shell, Petoro, and Var Energi.
