Outstanding payments from companies renting and managing properties have increased by 40% over the past year, reaching PLN 1.62 billion, according to BIG InfoMonitor and BIK data. From July 2021 to July 2023, overdue debts in this sector decreased by about 2% annually, but recent data shows a significant increase. The rise in unpaid obligations, which grew by PLN 464 million over the past year, poses challenges for landlords dealing with higher maintenance costs and the risk of tenants failing to pay on time.
Despite the growing number of rental companies, the proportion facing payment issues remains stable at around 3.3-3.8%. Currently, 40% of Poland's 1.8 million rental properties are municipal, while institutional investors hold only 1%.
