Pesa and Hitachi Rail conclude cooperation agreement to supply high speed trains
Pesa and Hitachi Rail have signed a cooperation agreement to bid in PKP Intercity’s tender for high-speed trains capable of more than 320 km/h. The contract could cover 20 trains plus an option for 35 more, intended for future routes linking Warsaw with Łódź, Poznań, and Wrocław under the CPK program.
The companies plan broader cooperation in high-speed rail, double-decker trains, aluminum vehicle technology, traction systems, and monitoring and diagnostics. Hitachi and Pesa are expected to offer PKP Intercity the ETR 1000, a train already approved in several European countries and capable of up to 400 km/h.
For Pesa, the partnership could mean access to advanced technology, including aluminum car body production and modern double-decker trains, while Hitachi gains a strong local partner. The firms also plan expansion in Central and Eastern Europe and Scandinavia.
