PIE: in 2025 nearly 30% of SMEs did not implement AI
Nearly 30% of Polish SMEs failed to adopt artificial intelligence in 2025 because employees lacked the necessary skills, according to the Polish Economic Institute. Only 7% of Polish SMEs use AI, compared with an EU average of 35%, placing Poland near the bottom of the bloc. The institute says weak digital skills are a major obstacle: 16.5% of SMEs reported having virtually no digital competencies, while 28.8% cited skills shortages as a barrier to AI implementation.
Training investment also remains limited, with 41.1% of SMEs making no investment in human capital in 2025. Experts argue that companies need to treat employee and management training as productivity-enhancing investments essential to technological transformation.
