PKO BP: in Q1, GDP growth will slightly exceed 3%

Poland's GDP growth in Q1 2025 is expected to slightly exceed 3%, according to PKO BP economists. January data from GUS showed that retail sales in constant prices rose by 4.8% y/y, but fell 17.3% m/m. Sales in current prices increased by 6.1% y/y.
The strongest growth was in automotive sales (21.9% y/y), likely due to pre-registered vehicles before stricter emission standards. Furniture, electronics, and household appliances saw a 13.6% rise, while pharmaceutical and cosmetic sales increased by 12.8%. However, food sales grew only 0.6%.
Despite a slow recovery, consumer sentiment is improving, and households expect better financial conditions. Economists see signs of gradual economic revival, aligning with their 3% GDP growth forecast for early 2025.
