The new Rotunda, in its shape, refers to the original project by Jerzy Jakubowicz implemented in 1966.

Works on the building design were accompanied by public consultations, in which 10,000 people participated. who reported 1.5 thousand ideas for the social functions of the building.

In Rotunda, there is also a remembered plaque commemorating the victims of the disaster from 40 years ago. In February 1979, there was an explosion that destroyed the building. It was the largest disaster in post-war Warsaw, as a result of which 49 people were killed and 135 were injured.
