PKP Cargo, which has been undergoing court-supervised restructuring since July 2024, has fallen behind on some current bills. Creditors reported overdue payments totaling PLN 74.5 mln to PGE Energetyka Kolejowa and PLN 53.4 mln to PKP Cargotabor. The company’s administrator confirmed payment delays, citing cash shortages and limited access to financing, but said there has been no systematic halt in paying current obligations.

The delays could threaten the restructuring. Under Polish law, payment delays exceeding 30 days create a presumption that a company cannot meet its current obligations, though a court decides whether to end the proceeding.

PKP Cargo reported first-half net profit of PLN 117.8 mln, but this included a noncash PLN 229.4 mln reversal of an asset impairment charge. Creditors are reviewing its latest debt settlement proposals, due for comment by October 15.
