PLN 13B for security upgrade

Prime Minister Donald Tusk has announced a PLN 13 billion allocation for the 2026–2029 Modernization Program covering the Police, Border Guard, State Fire Service, and State Protection Service (SOP). The funding will support infrastructure upgrades, training improvements, and equipment purchases.
Deputy Interior Minister Czesław Mroczek confirmed the plan includes 130 new facilities—mainly district police and fire stations—as well as enhancements to training bases and technical infrastructure. Over 3,000 new vehicles will be procured, along with helicopters for the Border Guard, weapons, and specialized equipment.
A key focus will be communications and IT, with PLN 1.5 billion earmarked for police systems alone and over PLN 2 billion across all services. Mroczek stressed the importance of secure communication for crisis response.
The new program is the fourth of its kind, following earlier initiatives that upgraded training, expanded eastern border infrastructure, and improved forensic and lab capabilities. Legislation begins in June.
