The Polish government is finalizing the draft law on registered partnerships, addressing same-sex and opposite-sex couples. The legislation aims to grant partners rights such as inheritance, joint tax filing, and representation in legal matters. A significant aspect under discussion is the "small custody" provision, which would allow a partner to participate in daily childcare decisions for their partner's child.
“The lack of regulation regarding children's situations constitutes institutional violence by the state against children living in rainbow families,” Minister for Equality, Katarzyna Kotula, emphasized.
“We want this project to be as perfect as possible,” Minister Kotula added.
The proposed law reflects a growing societal need to recognize and protect diverse family structures in Poland legally.
