The acquisition of Apache helicopters is a very good and strategically sound investment for the military; it confirms that Poland could have one of the strongest armies in NATO alongside the United States, stated Jim Townsend to PAP. Jim Townsend is a long-standing Pentagon official responsible for European policy and NATO, currently an expert at the Center for a New American Security (CNAS).
Townsend, who was formerly a long-time Pentagon official, commented on Poland's potential purchase of 96 AH-64E Apache attack helicopters. The State Department approved the transaction last week.
The expert believes that Poland's stance on defense greatly differs from that of Germany's leadership, which, as reported by Politico, withdrew its commitment to allocate 2 percent of GDP to defense in the budget project at the last minute.
