Poland has busiest LNG terminal in Europe

A 293-meter-long LNG tanker recently delivered over 100 million m³ of regasified natural gas to Poland’s Świnoujście terminal from Sabine Pass, USA. This marks the 30th U.S. LNG delivery to Poland in 2025 and the 366th in the terminal’s history. According to Bruegel, Świnoujście is the most utilized LNG terminal in the EU, operating at 96% of regasification capacity—just ahead of Croatia’s Krk terminal (95%).
The terminal covers about 40% of Poland's gas needs, with the rest supplied by domestic production and Norway’s Baltic Pipe. Following a recent expansion, Świnoujście can now handle up to 8.3 billion m³ annually, with a record 75–80 LNG tankers expected in 2025.
