Poland’s minimum wage becoming highest in EU after accounting for purchasing power
Poland ranks among the European Union countries with the relatively highest minimum wages after differences in living costs are taken into account, according to Eurostat data.
In nominal terms, Luxembourg recorded the highest minimum wage, at EUR 2,771 per month, while Bulgaria had the lowest, at EUR 620. Among EU countries with a statutory minimum wage, Poland was in the group where monthly minimum wages ranged from EUR 1,000 to EUR 1,500.
Poland ranked ahead of countries including the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, and Romania.
After adjusting for price differences between countries using purchasing power standards, or PPS, Poland was among nine EU countries with a minimum wage exceeding 1,500 PPS. Poland’s figure was 1,547 PPS.
