Every third Pole predicts that at the end of the first half of 2022, inflation in Poland will reach even 10 percent, according to the Tavex study "Inflation in Poland". Moreover, there is a growing group of respondents who believe that the index will exceed this level if we ask for a longer time perspective. The opinion of Poles contrasts strongly with the predictions of the National Bank of Poland announced at the beginning of November this year.
The record CPI inflation reading at 7.7 percent was in line with the expectations of experts. Moreover, forecasts show that the price increase will not slow down in the coming months. Published at the beginning of November this year, the central path of the NBP projection assumes that CPI inflation in 2021 will amount to 4.9 percent, in 2022 it will be 5.8 percent, and in 2023 it will amount to 3.6 percent.
Tavex respondents, however, disagree with the central bank. As many as 59 percent of Poles believe that the price increase at the end of 2022 will be more than 6 percent. Only 10.8 percent of respondents think that inflation will not exceed the "six" next year.
