Polish central bank keeps rates unchanged
Poland’s Monetary Policy Council left interest rates unchanged in September, keeping the National Bank of Poland reference rate at 3.75 percent. The decision marked the sixth consecutive meeting in 2026 without a rate change. The reference rate has remained at that level since a 25-basis-point cut in March, while the maximum statutory interest rate on consumer loans remains 14.50 percent annually.
The hold was broadly expected after inflation accelerated in August. Consumer prices rose 3.4 percent year on year, close to the upper edge of the central bank’s tolerance band, while second-quarter GDP growth was revised to 3.9 percent. The combination of stronger activity and firmer inflation has reduced the case for near-term easing. Borrowers therefore face little immediate relief from official rates, although market financing conditions will continue to depend on expectations for inflation and future policy for now.
