Poland is among the six countries selected by European High-Performance Computing Joint Undertaking that will host Europe's first quantum computers. The list also includes Czechia, Germany, Spain, France, and Italy.
The aim of the project, worth a total of EUR 100 million, is to place and integrate quantum computers in selected countries. The computers will be involved in solving complex problems in areas such as health, climate change, logistics, or energy usage.
Creotech Instruments, a manufacturer of satellite systems and advanced electronics, will work on the solution in Poland. The project aims to build a 100-qubit quantum computer by 2025 and achieve technological readiness to deliver a 1000-qubit solution by 2029. The expected budget of the first stage for the consortium, which includes Creotech, will be around 18-20 million euros.
“Through our involvement in such a key quantum technology project, we can develop technology that will position us to become a leader in the European market of electronics for quantum computers,” Grzegorz Brona, President of the Management Board of Creotech Instruments said in a statement.
