Polish data protection watchdog to investigate complaint against ChatGPT
The Polish Data Protection Office (UODO) is investigating a complaint against OpenAI regarding ChatGPT. The complainant alleges that OpenAI processes data unlawfully and lacks transparency in its data processing practices. UODO considers this case challenging because it involves a non-EU company and a relatively new and not well-understood tool, ChatGPT, which uses generative artificial intelligence.
The complainant claims that ChatGPT generated false information in response to their query and is seeking UODO's intervention to ensure OpenAI complies with GDPR. UODO takes the matter seriously and aims to address concerns about OpenAI's approach to European data protection principles, particularly the "privacy by design" principle.
