Poland’s economy grew 3.8% year on year in the second quarter of 2026, accelerating from 3.5% in the first quarter and slightly beating market expectations. On a seasonally adjusted basis, GDP increased 0.9% quarter on quarter, compared with 0.6% in the previous three months. Economists say the figures confirm that the weakness seen at the start of the year was temporary.

Investment appears to have played a major role in the acceleration, supported by EU funds, stronger construction activity and renewed corporate spending. Consumption remained resilient, while export-oriented industry also contributed. The stronger-than-expected performance strengthens the case that Poland will remain among the faster-growing EU economies in 2026, although geopolitical uncertainty and energy costs remain important risks.
