Polish dual-use investment fund Balnord has invested in German startup Inleap Photonics, which is developing laser-based counter-drone systems and already has contracts with Germany’s defense ministry and Bundeswehr Cyber Innovation Hub. Inleap raised about EUR 20 mln in a seed round led by UVC Partners. Its technology can disable drones at an estimated cost of just several to several dozen euros per engagement, far below missile-based alternatives. Balnord estimates the global laser counter-drone market could grow from about USD 2.8 bln in 2025 to USD 27 bln by 2034.

Inleap plans to expand production and enter Poland, targeting both military customers and critical infrastructure such as airports, data centers, and power plants. It is also establishing a Polish subsidiary.
