The five largest game producers listed on the Warsaw Stock Exchange generated a total of almost PLN 165 million net profit in the first quarter of this year, compared to nearly PLN 45 million recorded in the corresponding period of 2019.
The net profit of CD Projekt increased 420 percent in the first quarter of 2020 in annual terms. It amounted to PLN 92 million. Revenues from sales amounted to PLN 193 million, by 140 percent y/y.
27 percent is an increase in net profit of 11 bit studios (creator of, among others, ‘Frostpunk’) on an annual basis in the first quarter of 2020 (amounted to PLN 14.5 million).
Revenues from sales amounted to PLN 30.5 million and were higher by 115 percent y/y. The company said that the first quarter of 2020 was the second best period in terms of revenues and financial results in the company's history. In turn, the profit of Ten Square Games in the first quarter of this year increased 241 percent (it amounted to PLN 35.3 million). Revenues from sales amounted to PLN 95 million, up by 110 percent on annual basis.
About 96 percent of Ten Square Games's marketing expenses in the first quarter was spent on only one game - Fishing Clash. Besides, the PlayWay capital group recorded PLN 21.2 million net profit per parent.
Even the companies that have been balancing on the border of profitability so far have had successful first three months of this year. About PLN 1.5 million is the amount of net profit reported by CI Games (creator of, among others, the game Sniper: Ghost Warrior). In the corresponding period of 2019, the company had a loss of nearly PLN 2 million.
The American analytical company Newzoo estimates that in 2020 revenues on the global gaming market will increase by less than 10 percent, to almost 160 billion dollars.
