Polish startup investment falls thirteen percent
Investment in Polish startups continued to weaken during the first nine months of 2026, with venture capital financing totaling approximately PLN 1.3 billion, according to figures reported by Rzeczpospolita. That represents a 13 percent decline compared with the corresponding period in 2025. Data from PFR Ventures indicate that investors completed 48 transactions worth PLN 407 million during the third quarter alone, nearly PLN 190 million less than in the preceding quarter. The figures point to a difficult fundraising environment for young technology businesses.
The report also identified limited participation by international venture capital funds, which were involved in fewer than one in five transactions. Excluding unusually large investment rounds, financing during the first nine months was nearly 35 percent below the equivalent period of 2022. Industry observers nevertheless see potential opportunities in defense-related dual-use technologies, artificial intelligence and healthcare innovation, which could attract new investors.
