Polish tax office becomes one of the most dangerous in the world

Polish tax authorities are ranked second in the world in terms of the number of audits and verification activities conducted. The OECD conducted such an analysis among 58 countries in the world (which means that it was not only among its members, of which there are 36). It turned out that in 2021, only Malaysia outperformed Poland. The Polish tax administration conducted 2.2 million audits and verification activities, while Malaysia conducted 2.4 million.
It is worth noting that audits are a major affair, and then the tax authorities enter the company and go through all the papers, and the taxpayer is already shaking with fear. Meanwhile, verification activities are a milder form, in a sense preliminary, and they do not have to lead to lengthy audits, they are not as formalized and there is still nothing to be afraid of. In Poland, the number of these latter activities has been growing in recent years, mainly due to computerization.
