Polish trade coped well with COVID-19, as was appreciated by the Polish Economic Institute (PIE). Analysts pointed out that only in the period from November 2019 to November 2021, our exports and imports increased by 18 and 19 percent, respectively.
As PIE pointed out, the first half of 2021 was marked by an export boom, while the second – a significant increase in the value of imports.
"Across the whole of 2021, we will probably observe the turnover balance close to zero," the analysts assessed.
The head of the world economy team at PIE, Marek Wąsiński, told PAP that the export boom in the first half of 2021 led to a negative balance in trade in goods recorded by Poland from July 2021. In November, the deficit reached €704 million.
"The turnover surplus generated in the first half of 2021 decreased to less than €1 billion after 11 months. The entire year may therefore close with a turnover balance around zero," he indicated.
