Potential medical data of 19 mln Poles leaked in latest cyberattack
Polish Deputy Prime Minister and Digital Affairs Minister Krzysztof Gawkowski convened an emergency meeting of the Joint Cybersecurity Operations Center on August 12 following a cyberattack on healthcare technology company MyDr. Authorities are investigating whether patient data was stolen, how the attack occurred and who may now possess the information. Gawkowski said there is a high probability of a major breach involving data collected from patients across Poland, although no leak has yet been confirmed.
Media reports suggest that data belonging to as many as 19 mln people could be affected, which would make it one of Poland’s largest-ever data breaches. Government cybersecurity, security and health authorities are coordinating the response.
