Prices fall more than expected in October
Poland’s consumer prices fell 0.4% m/m in October 2026, exceeding the expected 0.2% decline, according to Statistics Poland’s preliminary estimate. Annual inflation slowed to 3.5% from September’s 4.1%, below the forecast 3.7% and at the upper boundary of the central bank’s target range. Electricity, gas and other fuel prices rose 6% y/y. mBank economists highlighted subdued food price growth and the CPN program’s restraint on fuel prices, estimating that core inflation likely declined to 3%.
ING economists viewed the figures as encouraging for monetary policymakers and expected interest rates to remain unchanged in November pending updated projections, with any potential increases deferred until the first quarter of 2027.
