Prices in stores should not increase much before Easter
Higher fuel prices could raise Poland’s overall inflation by about 0.5 percentage points as early as March, according to a report by UCE Research and WSB Merito Universities. However, experts say food prices are unlikely to rise sharply before Easter because retail cost increases usually take weeks or months to pass through the supply chain. In February 2026, everyday shopping prices were already 3.8% higher y/y, similar to January and December levels.
Analysts warn that if energy and fuel prices continue rising due to tensions in the Middle East, price growth in stores could accelerate later, particularly for household chemicals, bread, and processed food. In some categories, increases could reach 5-8%, and up to 10% for products most sensitive to transport and energy costs.
