Prime minister changes stance on NBP board, countersigns four nominees
Prime Minister Donald Tusk has countersigned presidential appointments for four proposed members of the National Bank of Poland’s management board: Marta Kightley, Ludwik Kotecki, Przemysław Litwiniuk, and Marcin Zarzecki. The documents have been returned to President Karol Nawrocki for his signature. Tusk said the move would protect the central bank from disruption. The appointments had been stalled for months, and the issue became urgent because Adam Lipiński’s term ends November 4.
Without replacements, the board would fall to five members, below the legal minimum of six. The decision followed a meeting between Finance Minister Andrzej Domański and NBP Governor Adam Glapiński. Investors reacted positively, with bank shares rising and the zloty strengthening slightly.
