Prime Minister: Poland will receive funds from European SAFE program

Prime Minister Donald Tusk announced that Poland will be the largest beneficiary of the EU’s SAFE program (Instrument for Strengthening Europe’s Security), securing tens of billions of euros in additional funding for its defense industry. Details are to be confirmed by the European Commission, but Tusk emphasized Poland’s dominant position in accessing the funds. The program, launched during Poland’s presidency of the EU Council, provides preferential loans to support urgent, large-scale investments in Europe’s defense industrial and technological base.
Its goal is to expand production capacity, ensure the availability of military equipment, and close existing capability gaps, thereby enhancing the EU’s defense readiness amid Russia’s growing military posture.
