Property taxes worry wind industry again
The Polish parliament is revisiting changes to property tax regulations, particularly affecting the energy sector. On November 6, 2023, lawmakers will discuss a government proposal to clarify tax rules, focusing on the definition of "building" and "structure." These changes could significantly increase tax burdens on energy operators, especially wind farms.
While the Ministry of Finance aims to address legal uncertainties, the wind energy sector is concerned that the new regulations will result in higher taxes, including for technical equipment such as turbines. Similar concerns have been raised by the photovoltaic and nuclear energy industries, with potential financial impacts for both businesses and local governments. The proposed changes follow a Constitutional Court ruling requiring tax definition adjustments.
