A PwC survey of more than 1,000 US financial services executives found that 86% consider AI skills more important than an MBA when hiring new employees, Bloomberg reported. In addition, 91% said they would be willing to pay higher salaries to workers who know how to use AI effectively.

PwC’s Peter Pollini said companies increasingly need employees who understand not only what AI agents are, but also how to build, manage, and apply them to specific business tasks. Unlike standard chatbots, AI agents can plan actions, use tools, and adapt to changing conditions while working toward a defined goal.

US universities are already responding to this demand. Leading business schools, including Harvard, the University of Pennsylvania, and MIT, are expanding their AI course offerings. Some companies are also increasing entry-level recruitment, betting that recent Generation Z graduates may be better equipped to use AI than existing employees.
