Bartosz Guss, General Director of the Polish Association of Real Estate Developers (PZFD), criticized the delayed decision to cancel the "0% Loan" program, leaving prospective homebuyers in uncertainty amid high mortgage rates. Many individuals, especially those on the edge of creditworthiness, have struggled to secure loans due to record-high interest rates.
Guss highlighted that private developers, currently the primary providers of multifamily housing in Poland, cannot fully address the country's housing needs. He emphasized the need for social housing development, which requires time, but immediate solutions are necessary. PZFD advocates for state-led measures to increase housing supply, such as simplifying procedures and improving land availability.
Minister Krzysztof Paszyk confirmed the program's cancellation, promising a new housing initiative in 2024.
