PZU launches bitcoin fund

PZU, Poland’s largest insurer, is launching inPZU Bitcoin, the country’s first fund offering direct exposure to bitcoin within the EU’s UCITS regulatory framework. Available from August 28, 2025, the fund will track the Bloomberg Bitcoin Index and invest at least 80% of its portfolio in ETCs and ETPs backed by bitcoin.
No brokerage account is required; the minimum investment is PLN 100, and the annual management fee is 0.5%. Valuation in PLN ensures currency stability.
The product responds to global crypto fund growth and rising Polish interest in digital assets. PZU notes improving sentiment toward cryptocurrencies, citing SEC approval of bitcoin ETFs in 2024 and a global market now worth over $150 billion.
Governments are also warming to crypto: the Czech central bank may allocate 5% of reserves to bitcoin, and the US announced a strategic reserve. PZU warns the fund carries the highest risk in its portfolio.
