QatarEnergy suspends LNG supplies to Poland until October
QatarEnergy, Poland’s second-largest LNG supplier, has extended force majeure through October as the Strait of Hormuz remains blocked, halting deliveries to Europe and Asia. Poland has received no Qatari LNG since April 2026, although Orlen says missing volumes are being replaced mainly by U.S. supplies, domestic and Norwegian production, and gas imported through Baltic Pipe. Qatar accounted for around 10% of Orlen’s total gas needs in 2025, but about 21% of Poland’s LNG imports.
The disruption comes as European gas prices remain near three-year highs and storage levels are unusually low. Poland is better positioned than most EU countries, with gas storage facilities currently 94% full.
