Rail funding fight erupts
Infrastructure Minister Dariusz Klimczak pushed back against suggestions that more than PLN 30bn earmarked for railway investment could be withheld as the finance ministry looks for budget savings. The funds concern planned transfers from excise and fuel-fee revenues to the Railway Fund in 2027–2030. Klimczak said rail remains a government priority and vowed to fight for the money. For investors and contractors, the dispute is worth watching because Polish rail modernisation is a major public infrastructure pipeline, with implications for construction, logistics and regional development.
