In August 2025, passenger rail transport in Poland hit record highs, with nearly 38.1 million travelers—up 9.3% y/y, or 3.3 million more than a year earlier, according to the Railway Transport Office (UTK). Transport performance reached almost 3.3 billion passenger-kilometers (+8.4% y/y), while operational work exceeded 19.7 million train-kilometers (+9.5% y/y). Compared to July, passenger numbers rose by 1.5 million (+4%) and transport performance by 233 million passenger-kilometers (+7.6%).

Average trip length stood at 86.1 km. From January to August 2025, over 286 million passengers used rail, 16.1 million more (+6% y/y). Transport performance exceeded 20.5 billion passenger-kilometers (+6.1%), with operational work at nearly 149.9 million train-kilometers (+9.3%).
