Record Funding for Local Governments Amidst Financial Reforms
Polish local governments are set to receive unprecedented financial support from the EU, with the first funds already distributed. The National Bank of Poland has launched loans supporting green urban transformations, with a budget of nearly €9 billion. This initiative is crucial for municipalities to finance sustainable and modern projects. Mateusz Walewski, chief economist at BGK, highlighted the importance of this funding.
“Local governments have access to EU funds and loans, which are essential for their development policies,” he said.
The Ministry of Finance is working on reforming local government finances, aiming to increase their autonomy and ensure consistent revenue sources.
