Registration of all short lease rented rooms starts May 20, 2026
From May 20, 2026, all apartments and rooms rented on a short-term basis in Poland will be required to register in a central national database, under new EU regulations. Deputy Minister of Sport and Tourism Ireneusz Raś announced that administrative fines of up to PLN 50,000 will apply for failure to register. Listings without a registration number will be banned from platforms such as Airbnb and Booking. The government expects the measure to significantly reduce the grey market, currently estimated at 30–35% of the sector.
Some owners may switch to long-term rentals or sell their properties. Additionally, from January 2029, local governments will be allowed to designate no-short-term-rental zones.
