Polish insurers detected nearly PLN 800 million worth of insurance fraud in 2025, an increase of 18% year over year, according to the Polish Chamber of Insurance. Fraud is becoming increasingly digital, with criminals using stolen personal data, synthetic identities, artificial intelligence, fake documents, and online sales channels.

Detected fraud in life insurance rose by 31%, with death-related claims accounting for more than half of the total value. In property and casualty insurance, detected fraud increased by 17%, while motor insurance represented about 64% of all identified cases and losses. Agricultural insurance was also vulnerable, with more than 900 fraud cases worth over PLN 21 million. Insurers say better data analysis and information sharing are improving detection, but rapidly evolving technology is making fraud more sophisticated and difficult to uncover.
