Rzeszów with the most stable demographics

In 2022, Rzeszów emerged as the only major city in Poland with positive indicators for both internal migration and natural population growth. It was among leaders in both categories, solidifying its position as a demographic leader. Among major cities, Łódź led in fertility with a rate of 1.196, followed closely by Rzeszów at 1.181. Gdańsk and Bydgoszcz had rates of 1.160 and 1.149, respectively, while Warsaw trailed with a rate of 1.141.
Notably, Opole secured a strong position just behind the more commonly recognized cities of Kraków, Gdańsk, Wrocław, and Warsaw. Surprising to some, Zielona Góra and Białystok also ranked high. Conversely, cities like Wałbrzych, Sosnowiec, Bytom, and Włocławek faced notable population declines, marking them as the biggest losers in the demographic race.
