Second wave of Polish takeovers appears in Germany
A growing number of acquisition opportunities are emerging in Germany due to economic stagnation and succession gaps in family-run businesses. Polish companies, particularly in the industrial sector, are increasingly taking advantage of lower valuations and a more open approach from German sellers. Recent examples include furniture maker MDD acquiring Ceka and Recykl Group signing a deal to buy tire recycler HRV. Companies like Trend Group, TT PSC, Spyrosoft, and Laude are also pursuing acquisitions in Germany.
The appeal lies in acquiring established brands, experienced teams, and immediate market access. However, experts caution that while valuations have dropped (from 7–8x to 3–5x EBITDA), thorough due diligence is vital to avoid hidden risks in distressed assets.
