Poland’s parliament has started work on tax changes that would lower some personal income tax burdens while raising revenue elsewhere. The bill changes PIT thresholds, modifies rules for lump-sum taxation of business income and introduces a new 22 percent corporate income tax rate for selected taxpayers. The government wants the changes to take effect from January 2027.

The timetable is tight because tax legislation generally must be completed before the new tax year. The package would also increase National Health Fund revenue by limiting some preferential health contribution arrangements. Lawmakers began the first reading on Tuesday evening, with the governing coalition under pressure to complete the process quickly enough for the new rules to apply from the start of next year. The changes affect employees, self-employed taxpayers and some companies, making the package a major tax measure now before parliament.
